The DeKalb County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office consists of one elected part-time prosecutor, one part-time office assistant, one full-time office manager and one full-time victim advocate. The office serves a population of approximately 12,892. The primary law enforcement agencies are the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office, Missouri State Highway Patrol, Cameron Police Department, Maysville Police Department, Stewartsville Police Department, and the Missouri Department of Corrections.Together with the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, these law enforcement agencies cover 424.2 square miles.

Meet Our Staff

Erik C. Tate, Prosecutor

Erik received his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Georgia and his Juris Doctorate from the University of Kansas. Upon graduation from KU, Erik was admitted to the Missouri Bar and took a job with the Missouri State Public Defender's office in Chillicothe, MO. When an opening for the Prosecuting Attorney of DeKalb County arose, Erik jumped at the opportunity to pursue his true passion.  He was successful in beating out the other candidates and was appointed to the position by Governor Nixon in January of 2010. Erik has served as an elected prosecutor since November 2010. As a Prosecutor, Erik has a reputation of being tough on crime. Erik may be reached at


Kristi L. Farr, Office Manager

Kristi previously worked as a Court Clerk in the DeKalb County Circuit Clerk's Office. She served as a Court Clerk for 12 1/2 years before transitioning to the DeKalb County Prosecuting Attorney's Office. Kristi has served as the Office Manager since February 2018. Kristi may be reached at

Joni K. Ignatenko, Victim Advocate

Joni attended Missouri Western State University. She graduated from their Law Enforcement Academy in 2000 with her Class A POST Certification. She worked in law enforcement for thirteen years, primarily as a Bailiff and a Student Resource Officer. She has served as the Victim Advocate for the DeKalb County Victim Services Program since December 2012. As an advocate she attends multiple conferences each year, including the Missouri Victim Services Academy.  Joni may be reached at

Casondra L. Stanford, Office Assistant

Casondra received her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from William Jewell College. While attending William Jewell, Casondra also worked as an Office Assistant for the Office of the Registrar at William Jewell College and completed an internship with the CEO of the Liberty Economic Development Cooperation. She has completed her first year of law school at Washburn University School of Law.
